Your Role
How to Stay Engaged
Infrastructure decisions are happening now. Here are three ways to participate.
01
Know Your Grid Operator
Electricity is managed by regional transmission organizations (RTOs). Check your bill for your utility, then search "[utility] RTO."
Major RTOs: PJM (mid-Atlantic including Virginia, D.C., and 11 other states), ERCOT (Texas), CAISO (California), MISO (central U.S.), ISO-NE (New England).
02
Track State Legislation
Search "[your state] data center legislation 2026" monthly. Sign up for bill alerts using keywords like "data center" or "electricity rate."
Multistate Associates tracks data center bills nationwide.
03
Engage Your Utility
When a utility files a rate case (a formal request to change prices), it becomes a public proceeding. Consumers can submit comments, and consumer advocate offices can represent residential interests.
Search "[utility] rate case" or "[state] public utility commission."
